Matt Coddington Making A Living Online

Published by Chris | Filed under Reviews | April 4th, 2007

Whenever guys like John Chow, the dot com mogul conceptualize ideas to increase their site traffic many people take note. A couple months ago when John announced that he was trading reviews from his readers for linkback. So did Matt Coddington, a 22 year old web developer from Columbia, South Carolina. In January 7, 2007 matt launched Net Business Blog dot com with the goal to provide:

“readers with real insight into the world of online business without the fluff. A lot of business blogs now have just become little more than advertising billboards, but what I hope to do different is give you information that you can actually use to startup or enhance your online business. What topics do I cover? Affiliate marketing, CPA, PPC, SEO/SEM, the wondrous world of eBooks, domaining, web development, and anything else I can think of. Do I have all the answers? No. But I will do my best to give insight into what I do know.

Matt’s is offering a free backlink for anyone who reviews NBB on their blog (Negative or Positive). Matt will also select one of the reviewing Bloggers per week and in-turn do a review of the selected blog on his site.

    NBB Stats
Thought NBB is just a few months old, there have been great reviews about Matt and his new venture in make a living online around Blogging community. At this present time of this post NBB rank’s 20,063 on Alexa, a very impressive stats for a relatively small site.

    NBB Linkback Requirement
Matt’s requirements are less stern and appear to be much easier to achieve the results for blogger. With a backlink from matt your blog will definitely have some traffic increase. Just write a review of his site.

    Finally, NBB Appearance
As for how NBB looks, matt did a great job spicing up the Vechowave theme with different Wordpress plug-ins and widgets. The site well formatted, just as the content matt update on a daily basis. Just I expected from a South Carolina university graduate. whatever that means. Net Business Blog is definitely a blog you should check-out if you’re serious in making a living online.

    Viral Marketer’s Having A Bla.St

Published by Chris | Filed under Reviews, Web 2.0 | February 24th, 2007

After reading about bla.st over at John Chow dot Com, I ran over to the bla.st website to see what all the rambling was about.

    Boosting your Bla.st Card
Given that I am cheapo, I opted to go with the free card (free is cool) but the generous guys at bla.st have a promotion running where they will add value to your account simply by providing a link to their site or a review of the site, maybe thats the reason why I am writing this post…not!

    First Impressions.
After spending a couple of minutes to sign up and create my image for my card. By the way Signing-up and uploading your card image is a breeze, took me only three minutes to have my account up and running. The site design is very easy to navigate and all in all its a great idea with lots of potential. Seeing that the site is relatively new my card listing is very good, infact I’m listed #1 under gadgets, but eventually my listing will drop as other people opt to pay for their cards and because I’m cheapo!
    One Suggestion
As I look through the site, I thought unless you are a frequent reader of a particular site like john Chow blog, it will be difficult to know basis of the site card. Maybe the folks at bla.st should display more information about the site in the pop-up window, which opens up when you scroll over the image cards. So readers will get an idea what the site is all about. Remember I’m not complaining; just imagine when the site has thousands of cards.

Well I’m going to wait to see what traffic having my bla.st Card listed, I mean it didn’t cost me a dime. Post me a comment if you add a card so I can look it up.

Published by Chris | Filed under Gadgets & Tech, Reviews, Tech | February 17th, 2007

Nokia 9300 is the perfect business phone. Anyone who needs to keep in touch with clients; work or whether you’re just someone just like to be connected is the ideal phone. Besides being an excellent phone the Nokia 9300 comes with email, word processing, and internet browsing. If you like to track of things the calendar and contact list are great ways.

    Nokia 9300

    Specs:

    • Weight: 5.89 oz (167 g)
    • Dimensions: 5.20″ x 2.01″ x 0.83″ (132 x 51 x 21 mm)
    • Form Factor: Clamshell
    • Battery Life: Talk: 4.00 hours (240 minutes) Standby: 200 hours (8.3 days)
    • Battery Type: LiIon
    • Display Type: LCD (Color TFT/TFD) Colors: 65,536 (16-bit) Size: 640 x 200 pixels, transflective TFT (internal display)

    • Memory: 80 MB (built-in, flash shared memory)
    • Phone Book Capacity: shared memory

    Some More Features:

    • Awesome wide screen
    • 80 megs of memory (expandable to 2 gigs)
    • Bluetooth
    • Email word excel and other apps
    • Speaker phone
    • QWERTY keyp

There are few important areas where the phone lacks, for me No vibration is HUGH, simply because my working environment requires that my phone be on silence always. There is no camera, but I’m not too fun off camera phones, for some people this might be a downside. Another area is the lack of backlight, makes it difficult to type and send text messages in dim or dark environments.

Despite these few drawbacks I believe the 9300 phone is one of the better smart phones on the market to date. You get the smooth operating system and lots of memory and variety of upgrades. All in all the N-9300 covers all the on-the-roads essentials.

Web Analytics Goes Beyond Just The Numbers

Published by Chris | Filed under Internet, Reviews, Small Business | February 15th, 2007

To many times website owners concentrate on the amount of the pageviews and visitor numbers. Having the numbers is just the first step. What you do with those numbers is what will contribute to a successful online strategy. I believe Companies websites need to narrate more of their focus back to the business questions, why do we need a website and what do you want visitors to do on the site. Besides just focusing on these questions, companies must also know how they can protect their website elements from unauthorized use of their website material.

Five out off ten site events on most sites involves either ordering or registering, and creating metrics related to those events. Looking at these metrics and having benchmarking numbers, will let you know whether the site is improving or getting worse as you make different changes. Incremental.. continuous improvement is the name of the game, all the hard work will pay off in more leads, more sales, and more visitors. Now,thats when you need analytic tools.

On the internet there are many different Web analytic tools, some which range from approximately $100 per month to several millions a year. But, bear in mind that no Web analytic tool can let you know what to look at and how to interpret your numbers. Sometime hiring an expert can play a strong role, even for just a few hours.
